A daily chronicle of results of one retail futures trader trading my own accounts. I define myself as a day trader and generally swing for at least a few points most of the time. But I do make the occasional scalp for ticks too.
MBA I took a similar long trade on the YM Friday, I committed to holding the position for at a minimum 20 min until I moved my stop for a breakeven stop, held from 10am to 12:30 until I moved my stop to capture more profit... eventually stopped out for a decent gain. Limiting number of trades per day may help trade on a longer time frame?
ReplyDeleteNice that you held for more than the 10 min. I did! My problem is in my head for sure.
DeleteI can hold the position for days or weeks. :-) I used to day trade back in 09. But I changed the job and I had no time eye-balling the market anymore. I changed to do swing trading. The result is better as times go by.
ReplyDelete@ Babysun,
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, the more trades I take the worse my win %... swing trading may have to be a part of my strategy?
@Trin
ReplyDeleteyou need to try it out to see whether swing trading works for you. I have friends that can't hold positions overnight, especially those volatile future contracts. People are different.
Maybe you could post a chart for us on occasion to show us how it's done BabySun. How much risk do you use, time holding trades, etc. Thanks for blogging!
