In old news is new news news, because Motley Fool has nothing better to write about:
3-facts-of-life-short-term-traders-need-to-accept
A daily chronicle of results of one retail futures trader trading my own accounts. I define myself as a day trader and generally swing for at least a few points most of the time. But I do make the occasional scalp for ticks too.

Not surprised to see "foolish" info from them. The 1st two "facts" are another way of saying that trading is difficult and the majority of those attempting it fail. So to be fair - these points also need to be passed on to other difficult professions such as acting, sports, politics, etc so folks can avoid them as well. Risk/reward has been around since time began.
ReplyDeleteThe 3rd "fact" about higher tax rates shows the true ignorance of the author. I guess no one ever enlightened him about how futures allow long term tax benefits on short term gains, and there are ways to classify income so a much larger share can be put away in tax free retirement accounts than is possible for those under standard 401ks/IRA's.
My world has just collapsed. I'm being told by those motley guys that the profits I make are probably just illusionary. Doh! My next goal is to keep moving up into higher and higher tax brackets.
