A daily chronicle of results of one retail futures trader trading my own accounts. I define myself as a day trader and generally swing for at least a few points most of the time. But I do make the occasional scalp for ticks too.
Years of daytrading have taught me that successful trading is really all about handling frustration. Lots of it. I know I will get frustrated today, and tomorrow, and the next day, ad infinitum. It happens to everybody. It's normal and expected. A key for me has been to learn to (i.e. try to) not let these normal frustrations even be frustration. If I know its going to happen, why should I get all bent out of shape when it does? If I let every "1 tick miss", expectation of a retest but getting a breakout instead, or "I'm just not sure" (and it goes on to be a winner without me) bother me, I'd have serious anger issues. But all I need is 1. Just 1 good setup. Give me that and I'll quickly forget about all the moves I missed.
ReplyDeleteTrue true! I'm an impatient person and need to work on my "zen" state while trading! Thanks for comment.
