Tues. 3/15

2:05pm CDT - Beans and corn went lock limit down and wheat came close. If I had held my 10 lot ZS short from where I took it off until the close, I'd have an extra $22k+ today on my P/L. Something for me to think about!

In "bend over and take it" news, AT&T DSL will start charging if customers exceed broadband useage caps of 150 GByte/month. Not sure if streaming eSignal and OEC data all day long puts me over the cap or not and AT&T can't answer that question until after March 18th they tell me! Anybody have an idea?

Net breakdown (contracts traded):
ZS $1192(21), ZW $849(5), GCL $103(6)
RESULTS FOR DAY
Contracts:32
Net $P/L:2144
Wins:6
Losses:4
Win%:60
Avg$Win:540
Avg$Loss:-274

  1. As long as you cut back on the porn downloads you should be ok. :)

150 GB's should be enough. Hopefully you have a second broadband to split the usage with if it did get close. You do have a backup don't you?

Worst case... we all pay $100 per month for internet.

  2. Follow up;

Just talked to AT&T. If you need more bandwidth you can upgrade to U-verse, or if you need more you can go to the business service which also gets much better service if something goes wrong for just a little more money. My usage was so low it didn't even register for this month so far. So we should all be in good shape as far as bandwidth for trading goes. If your downloading movies or playing online games that may be a different story.

  3. What? No more porn? LOL
Thanks for info. AT&T gave you much more info than me. The URL myuseage.att.com is supposed to be working on the 18th and customers can use that to track their usage.

  4. lol @ porn downloads. 150 gig should be plenty. AT&T must be going after those who are downloading and uploading movies.

  5. Shouldn't be an issue. I used my Sprint access to power up by brokerage and chart data when my broadband service was down. I was curious to see what the usage would be for the day, and when I got the usage statement, it was much lower than I expected.

Then I realized market data streaming is on the very low side of continuous data use - video streaming takes up the lion's share easily. Think about how much data has to be used to create multiple smooth moving graphics versus just a stream of numbers. I bet 15 minutes of video streaming is comparable to several days of market data.

  6. Yeah, I guess data alone shouldn't be too much. I used to have Netflix but no more.
