A daily chronicle of results of one retail futures trader trading my own accounts. I define myself as a day trader and generally swing for at least a few points most of the time. But I do make the occasional scalp for ticks too.

I've often wondered why you don't set daily goals and/or thresholds ?
ReplyDeleteFor example:
1) If you are up $1000 for the day, stop trading if you retrace to +$500. In other words, use a 50% retracement.
2) If you are down $500 for the day, stop trading period.
It's never backtested well. But I do revisit that idea from time to time.
